I hope you have a peaceful and relaxing Second Advent Sunday. Ours isn't quite going as planned. We were going to bake and decorate some cookies today, but my little one is too sick. 

I thought I'd still share my recipe for old- fashioned cutout cookies with you today. They are a lot of fun to make, taste good and have become a Christmas tradition for us. They also look very cute if you're making cookie plates as gifts this year. 

The recipe is from my Christmas Cookies Cookbook. You can top them with sprinkles before you bake them, but my favorite way to decorate them is to make a paste with powdered sugar and water. Paint this on the cookies and then add sprinkles and sugar pearls to your heart's content. You can even add food coloring to the powdered sugar mix to make different paints.
