Spring Planting Tips

Ready to Garden?
Hello ,

We had a nice Spring Break and our road trip turned out fun. The state park sadly was a bust. When we got there, the park was closed to the public. They had some school programs set up for the local schools around there. Sadly no one bothered to post this on the State Park Website.

After a little Googling, we found some other stuff to do in the area.

The rest of the week and the weekend were mostly spent in the garden. My wonderful husband plowed up part of our yard and we're using it to grow even more vegetables this year.

I'm also trying my hand at growing Okra. I didn't think I like it very much up until last year. In my husband's family it was mostly breaded and deep fried. It's good, but a lot of work to make from scratch, and I don't care for how deep frying stinks up the house.

Other than that I've had okra in soups and stews and I've gotta tell you, I'm not a big fan. Last year, I picked up some fresh okra at the farmer's market and fell in love with it. I hope our two rows of okra will bring us a plentiful harvest throughout the summer months.

If you're getting ready to plant a few veggies and herbs, I have some tips and a great resource for you. The first are some Spring Planting Tips here:

If you are looking for a little more help including some great ideas on how to get started even in the smallest of spaces, take a look at the Vegetable Gardening Made Simple ebook here:

I'll walk you through everything you need to get started. You'll even find instructions for building a raised bed and container gardening (that's how we got started). Then we'll move into planning your first garden, what to plant and how tow to grow as a gardener. There are plenty of "must-know" tips sprinkled throughout that will make things easier and more frugal.
