[HBHW] This ice cream sandwich will melt

Homemade Ice Cream Sandwich
Hello ,

If you've been following the news the past few days, I'm sure you've heard of the ice cream sandwich that won't melt. Apparently a mom found a store-bought ice cream sandwich her son had left sitting outside that just wouldn't melt. If you ask me, that's a little scary.

Apparently there are so many artificial stabilizers and unhealthy oils in there that make the ice cream easy to transport across country to your local super store.

I don't know about you, but I prefer my ice cream to melt and I like to know what's in the food we eat. Which is why I'll be making homemade ice cream sandwiches with the kids this week (my niece is visiting with us for a few days).

Tonight we'll be baking a big batch of chocolate chip cookies. I'm sure some of them will become warm and gooey desserts right away, but the rest will be saved for ice cream sandwiches.

Here's the recipe for the cookies I'm using:

Tomorrow I'll dig out my ice cream maker and make up a batch of old fashioned vanilla custard ice cream. I shared the recipe for that on the HBHW website this morning. You can find it here:

If that sounds like a little too much work, give this easy ice cream recipe a try.
