[HBHW] I'm heading to the Back To School Bash this afternoon

Published: Mon, 08/20/12

Hello ,

Whew...it's been a crazy busy summer with just a little time here and there to work. I don't know about you, but I'm ready for school to start back up. After spending lots of quality family time, I'm looking forward to having a few quiet hours each morning to get my house in order and to work on the Hillbilly Housewife website.

It's been driving me nuts to have all sorts of great ideas for blog posts, new recipes, ebooks, new additions for the Hillbilly Housewife Club, but not enough time to sit down and work on them. With school starting on Wednesday, that's about to change.

But first, it's time to get Britana settled in and comfortable at her new school. In a little over an hour we're headed out to the "Back to School Bash" her new school is throwing. It's a great chance for all of us to take a look at the school and meet her new teacher. I think it'll go a long way to alleviate some of the jitters she has about starting class.

Back to school brings all sorts of new challenges including getting myself as well as the rest of the family back into a school day routine. Thankfully I stumbled across a great guide by Susan, the Confident Mom. It's called the Back to School Survival guide and includes all sorts of great information and plenty of printables. I'm still working my way through  the 134 pages, but so far I'm impressed.

If you have school aged children, I highly recommend taking a look. For me, it was worth the buy, just for the printables alone and the graphics are just too cute.

I also have a quick tip for you if you're new to back to school and school supplies. Don't start buying the stuff on the school district list until you've had a chance to talk to your child's teacher. Their classroom requirements are often quite different and you don't want to spend money on folders and notebooks that they don't end up using. This year, I was able to find a classroom specific list on the school website once we found out who Britana's teacher is. In the past I've emailed the teachers or got in touch with them on Facebook before heading out to buy supplies.

Warmly,
